Merger of CBIC & CBDT – A Myth

Government has clarified that there is no proposal to merge the two boards CBIC and CBDT.

The Government further clarified that the merger of the two boards was a recommendation of the Tax Administrative Reform Commission, which was not accepted by Government.

In the Parliament, Government has placed this fact before the Committee on Government Assurances in 2018, in response to a parliament question.
